X-Men First Class has been a blast to work on. From Jeff Parker's great writing to Roger Cruz's awesome art, I've been fortunate enough to be on this book since the beginning.
They haven't kicked me off yet, which I take as a good sign that I'm doing something right!
Roger's latest pages are even more fun because he's been using digital zipatones and halftoning to create some of the shade values, which looks fantastic.
Anyways, this is a giant cover that spans the entire upcoming Finals mini-series (AKA: they sliced it up to make the 4 covers of the mini-series). I'm crossing my fingers they make a poster of it, but we'll have to wait and see.
I'm trying to find time to get into using Painter. I love Roger's own work where he's been doing digital water color. That's the exact style I've wanted to do for quite some time, so hopefully I'll get a chance to start playing with style variation in 2009.
I've actually wanted to do both a water color style, and a marker based / colored pencil style for years. I just need to get off my butt and DO it.
beautiful colours, Val... love the depth you've given with the faded background narrative! Could I ask how long it took you to colour? I just did a piece for a the very talented Jess Stokely here on DA, which took me a bit over 2 1/2 hours; it's a very different, more french graphic novel style but I have absolutely no idea whether 2.5 hours is realistic or not? If you could give any pointers or thoughts, it would be very, very much appreciated, although I do understand that you must be very busy Here's a link: [link]
