We all have to start somewhere, right?
And here's my start at Marvel:
Cable 89

Ugh... I'm ashamed to show this.
Honestly, I have no idea why Marvel even hired me for this fill-in. I mean, look at my colors... *sigh*
It just goes to show that opportunity might be right around the corner for any of us.

My guess is someone at Marvel either felt sorry for me, or hoped I was a hot chick because my name is Val. :D

I was SOOO proud of this when I originally did it.
I had 3 days to do the entire issue.
I worked non-stop, maybe getting 4 hours sleep total.
Even skipped my classes in college and took off work so I could devote all my time to this.

It's bad... what else can I say? :D
It's really really bad.
But I'm still thankful an editor took a chance on me.

It's not that bad, but you did better work
But as you had 24 pages to paint in 3 days ( do you had to color the cover?), it's pretty good if it was the average of it all.
I know the feeling, I had to paint around 25 cards in one night and I never did such hideous work in my entire life. You're not alone in your pain (LoL)

They hired you cause you finished an entire issue in 3 days.....that's impressive...

I'm trying to see why you're giving yourself such a hard time on this pic. looks good to me, the only colour/shading I don't like is on the womans face in the right corner. The shadow from her hair just seems a bit too intence. Other than that... all good

Hey, considering some of the crap pencils around back then *cough* Rob Liefeld *cough* I'd say this is pretty awesome for a first time. I'm hoping someday I get a break into the comic industry myself...
